Получение генетически идентичных индивидуумов; в генетической инженерии — процесс эффективной репликации большого числа идентичных молекул ДНК, для чего необходимый материал встраивается в фаговый или плазмидный вектор (см. также вектор), который затем используется для инфицирования подходящего хозяина, в котором генетический материал реплицируется, образуя большое число копий.
Выделение и амплификация отдельных генов в реципиентных клетках. Такие клетки, содержащие нужный ген, можно использовать для получения большого количества белка, кодируемого данным геном, или большого количества самого гена в высокоочищенном виде.
